We wanted to take a minute and recognize some awesome officers for their MADD Awards (presented late due to Covid restrictions). Thank you to Officer Robert Westfall, Officer PJ Gambardella, Officer Ryan Fitzgerald, and Officer David Talty for your outstanding efforts in keeping our roads safe! Well done gentleman!
Patrolman Robert Westfall has led the Toms River Police Department in the number of DWI arrests every year for the past decade. Patrolman Westfall has been one of the top DWI arrest producers in NJ during his career. He has been the recipient of the Kimberly Smith Ames DWI Award and J. Marles DWI Enforcement Award.
Patrolman PJ Gambardella had the most DRE (Drug Recognition Expert) evaluations with the Toms River Police Department. He has responded to many calls for assistance from outside agencies to perform DRE exams and is often contacted for his expertise.
Patrolman Ryan Fitzgerald was one of the top officers from the patrol division for DWI arrests. He was very proactive throughout the year in making 478 motor vehicle stops and investigating 227 crashes.
Working on the midnight shift, Patrolman David Talty had the top number of DWI arrests in our department among newly hired officers. Patrolman Talty was very proactive in traffic enforcement throughout the year in making 120 MV stops.
