We’d like to congratulate Captain Anderson on his promotion to Captain on August 1, 2021!
Captain Christopher Anderson is a lifelong resident of Toms River and has been married to his lovely wife, Colleen, over 20 years. They have two children: Isabelle, 18, and Kevin, 19, both graduates of High School North. Captain Anderson graduated from Toms River High School East in 1991 and earned his associates degree locally at Ocean County College. Captain Anderson earned his bachelor’s degree in Public Administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University and is currently finishing the last semester of the master’s program. Before joining our department in 1995, Captain Anderson worked for the Medford Lakes Police Department and the Seaside Heights Police Department where he graduated with the 62nd class of the Ocean County Police Academy. As an officer, he completed previous assignments with the Traffic Safety Bureau where he was a certified accident reconstructionist, Information Technology, the Administration Bureau and Special Projects.
Throughout his career, Captain Anderson supervised patrol, the municipal jail, fleet & plant maintenance, the school resource officers and the communications center. He supervised the midnight and evening shift patrols as Shift Commander before joining the Detective Bureau in 2019 where he became the Bureau Commander. Captain Anderson participated in the 2017 Senior Leadership Development Program hosted by the Greater Manchester Police Department College of Policing, and he also attended the 16th Session of the NJ Chiefs of Police Executive Institute. He is also a graduate of Northwestern University School of Police Staff & Command, class #458. Captain Anderson recently completed FBI Hostage & Crisis Negotiations training in Monmouth County along with detectives.
Captain Anderson is honored to be part of the professional and hardworking team of men and women that make up the Toms River Police Department Detective Bureau both past and present. He would like to offer many thanks to family, friends, and co-workers who have helped support the last 27 years of his law enforcement career.
